Heat Pump & Heating Service in Palm Beach County

South Florida does not need much heat, but when a cold snap hits, you want it to work. Most local homes use heat pumps, which cool in summer and heat in winter with one efficient system.

How a heat pump works

A heat pump moves heat instead of making it. In summer it pulls heat out of your home and sends it outside, exactly like an air conditioner. In winter it reverses the process and pulls heat from the outdoor air into your home. Because our winters are mild, heat pumps are very efficient here.

What we do

  • Heat pump repair and replacement
  • Electric heat strip repair
  • Air handler repair and replacement
  • Thermostat upgrades and smart-thermostat setup
  • Seasonal heating checkups before the first cold front
  • Ductless heat pump (mini-split) service. See ductless mini-splits

Test your heat before you need it

The first cold night of the year is the worst time to learn your heat is broken. In the fall, set your thermostat to heat and make sure warm air comes out within a few minutes. If you smell a brief burning-dust odor the first time, that is usually dust on the heat strips burning off. If the smell is strong or does not go away, turn the system off and call us.

Understanding auxiliary heat

Most heat pumps have electric heat strips as a backup for very cold nights. They work, but they are expensive to run. If your thermostat shows aux or emergency heat running often, or your bill spikes in winter, have the system checked. A healthy heat pump should handle most Florida days by itself.

When to call

  • Cold air when the system is set to heat
  • Heat strips running all the time
  • The outdoor unit icing over
  • Strange noises when switching between heating and cooling

A system that moves heat instead of making it. It cools your home in summer and warms it in winter.

Yes. Our mild winters are ideal conditions for heat pumps.

Sometimes this is normal during a defrost cycle or when the system is just starting. If it stays cool for more than a few minutes, call us.

Only if the heat pump has stopped working. Emergency heat uses electric strips and costs much more to run.
